The 14-year-old boy was ordered last week to a facility with a program for fire-setting youths. He had admitted his role in the May 6 fire that killed 16-year-old Tyshawn Lawrence at a hearing earlier this month.
The Morning Call of Allentown reports the younger boy initially told police sparks flew out of the computer but later admitted he was using a lighter to set a blanket on fire and the blaze got out of control.
Officials say other family members escaped but didn't know Lawrence was in his room asleep and not at school. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning almost two weeks later.
