NJ woman accused of fake Facebook ID avoids jail

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - March 19, 2012

A judge in Morristown on Monday accepted Dana Thornton into a pre-trial intervention program.

The Daily Record of Parsippany reports (http://dailyre.co/zBA9BE ) the 41-year-old will be supervised on probation for a year, must perform 50 hours of community service and submit to a psychological evaluation.

Thornton did not admit to the charge of identity theft. The crime is punishable by up to 18 months in jail.

Thornton allegedly posted comments that characterized her ex-boyfriend, a narcotics detective, as a drug abuser who frequented prostitutes.
