The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority met Thursday with the leaders of its approximately 200 transit police officers as they seek a new contract after a year without a deal.
Union officials say they want a 50-cent hourly wage increase for mandatory recertifications.
SEPTA's 219 unionized police abruptly went on strike Wednesday afternoon. City police, transit police supervisors and private security companies are being deployed to cover for the striking officers.
