First lady to get some little helping hands

WASHINGTON (AP) - March 23, 2012

School kids from around the country are going to pitch in next week.

Kids from the D-C area, as while as children from Iowa, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and New York will take part.

Girl Scouts from Troop 60325 in Fairport, New York, were invited after they wrote Mrs. Obama.

The girls told the first lady they were growing 100 tomato plants to give to people who can't get fresh food.

This will be the fourth annual spring planting for the first lady's garden.

It's the first vegetable patch at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt's World War II victory garden.
