Tracy Brown is a Navy wife. Her house has a yellow ribbon outside.
Her husband Matthew is deployed on a ship somewhere off the coast of Somalia.
Tracy has a full time job and keeps a close eye on the couple's three, four and five year olds who seem in perpetual motion.
The one task she's dreaded was the half acre lawn that will have to be cut, trimmed and weeded during the growing season.
Here's why:
Before she could come out to the yard and fire up the lawnmower, weed-wacker and other materials, she would have to hire a babysitter to watch the little ones, and then go battle the lawn.
Mullica Hill landscaper Brian Gill learned of the situation.
While he didn't know the Browns, he decided to help.
"I said to my wife, we need to do more. All these guys are still overseas, fighting for the freedom of our country, and, honestly, I think it's sometimes, possibly, forgotten," Gill said.
Gill's crew hit the yard today.
They are planning to mulch, weed, feed and cut the lawn for the entire season for free.
Brian and Tracy met for the first time this afternoon. She hugged and thanked him.
Brian Gill says his gesture is a way to say thank you to a service family separated by duty.
For Tracy Brown, it's one less issue in a complicated life when your husband is half a world away.
"I'm looking forward to some free time to spend with the kids and not having to worry about the lawn," Brown said.
