Life sentence in Philly tow truck fight death

PHILADELPHIA - March 28, 2012

Glenn McDaniel was convicted of first-degree murder by a judge on Wednesday following a two day non-jury trial.

The conviction carries an automatic sentence of life in prison.

McDaniel was charged with murdering 30-year-old Ray Santiago in September 2010 following a dispute over territory.

Prosecutors say McDaniel repeatedly ran Santiago over, even once having his wheels lock up because Santiago was entangled in them.

The incident was captured on surveillance video. In the video, McDaniel's girlfriend can be seen trying to separate him from a dispute with Santiago.

It appeared to be over when McDaniel got into his truck and backed up but, when Santiago started walking toward his truck, police say McDaniel hit the gas and mowed down Santiago.
