Jet Blue mid-air meltdown 2nd in 24 hours

NEW YORK, NY - March 28, 2012

And the incidents have sparked many questions about air travel safety.

Removed from active duty by JetBlue, Captain Clayton Osbon, seen on his

Twitter Page, remains in custody while under the care of medical professionals in Amarillo, Texas.

He's expected be released from the hospital later this week.

But the question remains, will the veteran pilot face charges?

"I'm so distraught! We've got Israel we've got Iraq!" Osbon shouted after his outburst Tuesday onboard a Jet Blue flight from New York to Las Vegas. It was all caught on cell phone video obtained by CNN.

Osbon's irrational behavior had forced his co-captain to lock him out of the cockpit. That's when the tirade really began.

"Flight 191, we're going to need authorities and medical assistance," the co-captain reported.

The plane was diverted to Texas about the same time that David Gonzalez first noticed the captain's apparent nervous breakdown.

David Gonzalez is being called a hero for helping subdue the out of control pilot.

"As soon as he pointed at me, I grabbed his arm and I put him in a choke hold," said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was then joined by several others on their way to a security specialist convention in Las Vegas, who helped subdue the 49 year old.

"It was the longest flight to Vegas I've ever had; 13 hours. Unbelievable," said passenger Gabriel Gavrilov.

Passengers onboard a US Airways flight had to endure their own harrowing plane ride Wednesday morning.

A female passenger headed from Charlotte to Fort Myers, Florida had to be restrained after allegedly attacking crew members when they wouldn't serve her alcohol.

An off duty Sheriff's deputy who was on-board helped corral the 50 year old.

She faces charges of battery and interfering with the operation of an aircraft.
