Police confiscated all of the bicycles last Friday, while making an arrest a home in the 2200 block of West Lehigh Avenue.
The police catalogued all the bikes and brought them to a garage at Macalester Street and Whitaker Avenue.
Then they invited members of the public who've had bicycles stolen, to see if they could identify them.
"Hopefully, you have a police report; you reported to police, hopefully, you have your serial number to provide us with substantive proof of ownership and we'll give your bicycle back to you," Sgt. Joseph Cella from the Major Crimes Unit said.
Sgt. Cella believes these bikes were likely stolen from North Philadelphia, and perhaps the Fairmount Park area. But residents came from throughout the city hoping to find their missing bikes.
Patsy Jackson was hoping to find two bikes stolen from her children.
"The girl bike, my aunt gave it to her, it's purple, I wouldn't recognize it if i saw it, I just know it was a purple girl bike. It's like eeny-meeny-miny-moe, but the boy bike, I know it's a Schwinn and i don't see it," Jackson said.
Christian Kunkle of Fishtown had three bikes stolen, but didn't find any of them here, either.
"Every time you seem to lock it up, you think you do a good job, and they just keep disappearing. You learn your lesson of lock it up better," Kunkle said.
In fact, some of the bikes still had their locks and chains attached.
The garage is open until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, but photos will be posted on the police website by the end of the week.
