A young Eagles fan gets pre-season surprise

PHILADELPHIA - March 30, 2012

Alyssa Casillas is a truly amazing young lady. A pre-natal condition resulted in her being born without arms or legs.

Despite that, the 15 year old is a high school honor student, she cooks for herself, and she even enjoys horse-back riding.

But the biggest thrill of her life arrived Friday afternoon; a signed and autographed jersey.

You see, even though Alyssa was born and raised in Southern California, her parents are from Philadelphia.

"She has jerseys from all different sizes from when she was little," said Miriam Casillas, Alyssa's mother. "The thing is, when the Eagles are playing, her and her father put their jerseys on and sits on the sofa and they watch the game."

But there's a guy who wears the number 10, that Alyssa is simply wild about.

"I just like DeSean because he's cute," said Alyssa. "And he's a good player."

Alyssa's family reached out to DeSean Jackson's charitable foundation to tell them her story.

When the folks connected with the foundation found out Alyssa was in town, they asked city officials to present her with a signed photo and an autographed jersey during a lunch date with her family in Center City.

But the best part of the package was the IOU.

Sometime this summer, the DeSean Jackson Foundation will send Alyssa and her family tickets to an up-coming Eagles game, along with an opportunity to meet DeSean personally.

So, that means the Casillas family will be back to Philadelphia in the fall once they receive those tickets.

And they have an appropriate message for everyone involved with giving Alyssa this extraordinary gift: "E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!!!"
