Gov. Perry to fly over tornado-stricken area

DALLAS (AP) - April 5, 2012

The National Weather Service says a twister with winds as high as 165 miles an hour touched down in Forney, east of Dallas. Other tornadoes in Arlington and Lancaster appear to have had winds up to 135 miles an hour.

There are no reports of deaths, and of the more than 20 people injured; only a handful were seriously hurt.

The tornadoes jumped from place to place, skipping over heavily populated areas -- limiting the impact of what could have been a far more damaging and deadly storm. Weather experts and officials are crediting the quick response to tornado warnings for preventing deaths and more injuries.
