Boat captain plans Lewes-Dewey Beach water taxi

DEWEY BEACH, Del. - April 5, 2012

The Daily Times of Salisbury, Md., reports that David Green, owner of Seahorse Charters, is tentatively calling it Cape Water Taxi.

Green hopes to start two weeks before Memorial Day and run through Labor Day.

He said he got the idea for the service when he lived in south Florida and saw a water taxi service in Ft. Lauderdale.

The vessel is a pontoon boat that can hold 26 passengers and two crew members.

He expects a round-trip ticket from Lewes to Dewey would cost between $12 to $15, and the 10.5-mile trip would take about an hour.
