The event raised money for two moms fighting cancer.
The action on the ice Friday night in Northeast Philadelphia had former Flyers playing the Philly Fighters for charity at Cavity Busters Flyers Skate Zone.
"It's an honor," said Vicki Cummings. "We're thrilled that they came out to support us. We think it's great for the cause that they came out to support."
Vicki Cummings, a Mayfair hockey mom, has been battling breast cancer for months. Her husband Scott wanted to do something to help those fighting cancer, so he picked up the phone.
"We're just trying to make awareness, trying to raise money, trying to wear the pink ribbon, and now when I see the ribbon my heart goes on to them," said Scott Cummings.
He was able to get Philadelphia Flyers alum like Todd Fedoruk, Joe Watson and Bob Kelly to lace up their skates and put on the pink for the cause.
Even former Philadelphia Phantom enforcer Frank "The Animal" Bialowas hit the ice.
"Playing with my boyhood heroes, well Frank Bialowas killed me. He beat me so bad, but he beat me in front of my family and friends because he's the animal," Scott said.
Players put on a show for the hundreds who lined the rink to see them.
"It is an honor anytime you get to give back to either a charitable organization or to help people out in anyway you can," said Todd Fedoruk. "Being a part of an alumni group like the Flyers, is one an honor, but it is also a way to give back to the fans."The benefit will also help Jenn Badolato of North Wildwood, New Jersey.
Cummings hosted another charity event when she wasn't feeling well.
Badolato was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in February.
"One day at a time," said Vicki. "Jenn and I are both going through the treatments, so one day at a time."
The former Flyers won Friday night's battle, and the women say they look forward to winning their own battle.
"We'll beat it," Vicki said. "We're strong, strong women, especially with the community, family and friends."
The benefit was so successful, organizers say they plan to have another one in the next month or so.
