Firefighters battling large brush fire in north NJ

CARLSTADT, N.J. (AP) - April 11, 2012

But officials say no injuries or property damage has been reported, though some minor travel delays were occurring.

State Department of Environmental Protection officials say numerous firefighters are battling the blaze in Carlstadt, not far from MetLife Stadium and the Izod Center arena in nearby East Rutherford. They said about 30 acres was burning overall and that some structures were nearby, but no evacuations were expected.

It's not yet known what sparked the blaze, which is not considered suspicious.

Several brush fires have broken out in New Jersey in recent days, mostly due to dry conditions and low humidity.
