Vandals damage windows, doors at Del. high school

WILMINGTON - April 16, 2012

Police say the incident occurred sometime between 10:00 p.m. Sunday and 5:00 a.m. this morning after an unknown number of suspects used chunks of concrete and rocks to damage the glass on 75 doors and windows of the Delcastle Technical High School located in the 1400 block of Newport Road in Wilmington.

School officials estimate that the suspects caused approximately $100,000 in damage to the building.

The damage was discovered by school maintenance employees after they responded to work this morning.

It was then reported to the Delaware State Police School Resource Officer assigned to the school.

Students returned from spring break on Monday.

The Delaware State Police are asking anyone who may have any information in reference to this incident to contact Detective Norman Cochran at Delcastle High School at 302-995-8049.

Delcastle Technical High is the largest vocational high school in the county and courses range from general academics to trade courses such as auto body and welding.
