Colorado man forfeits plane in Pa. drug case

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - April 19, 2012

The Montgomery County district attorney's office is the new owner of James Handzus' 1959 Piper following Wednesday's hearing.

Handzus was convicted in November of charges stemming from his April 2011 arrest. Investigators said he sold a pound of crystal methamphetamine to an undercover detective after flying to the area by way of Nevada.

Prosecutors say Handzus picked up the drugs in Las Vegas after flying from his hometown of Rifle, Colo.

Handzus is scheduled to be sentenced next week with co-defendant Tamara Vincent, who pleaded guilty to drug and conspiracy charges.

The district attorney's office says it plans to see the plane.
