Celebrating Grill Cheese Month

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ - April 24, 2012

Every diner has a grilled cheese and many other eateries do, too. But it's hard to find as many as you do at The Pop Shop in Collingswood, New Jersey.

Owners Bill and Connie Fisher made it a cornerstone of their menu from the word "go". Bill wanted a hundred varieties. Connie argued for five.

They compromised on 30 regular offerings and the list changes from time to time. But during Grilled Cheese Month, there are some specials and even a sandwich of the day.

On our visit, Bill."Stink" to his friends...created some very un-traditional versions for the Action Cam. There's his Richey...mozzarella sticks on focaccia bread with a side of marinara.

The Woodlawn offers brie on grilled rye bread with ham, cranberries and Dijon mustard. The Arlington pits macaroni and cheese plus extra cheddar on sourdough bread with crumbled bacon.

Other cheeses being grilled at The Pop Shop include swiss, provolone, jack and feta. Throw in a cup of soup and maybe a choice from the menu's ten varieties of fries and you have an affordable, filling meal.

The Pop Shop is at 729 Haddon Avenue in downtown Collingswood. They're pen Monday through Thursday 8 am to 9 pm. Friday 8 am to 10 pm,. Saturday 7:30 am to 10 pm, and Sunday 7:30 am to 8 pm.

Breakfast is available any time they're open. The menu is based on American comfort food, and there's an old-time soda fountain on the premises.
