55-year-old Judith Savadelis has been charged with Criminal Attempt - Criminal Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Possession of Instruments of Crime, and Harassment.
At around 4:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to a home on the 2500 block of Ludwig Court in Lower Macungie Township for the report of an assault.
According to authorities, Savadelis struck her 79-year-old mother Teresa Kauffman in the head and body repeated times with the mallet.
Kauffman was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Savadelis was remanded to Lehigh County Prison and her bail was set was $150,000.
