Thieves steal thousands in home invasion

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - April 24, 2012

Police say it was around 11:50 p.m. Monday when two men knocked on the door of a home on the 2500 block of South Reese Street.

When the 30-year-old man occupant answered the door, two black males with handguns barged their way in, saying "where is the money".

The resident said he told the gunmen that he had no money. That's when one of the intruders pistol whipped the victim and then fired his gun to intimidate him.

A 31-year-old woman was also in the house at the time of the invasion.

The suspects fled with $3,000 in cash.

Both residents are said to be Asian. It is unknown if they are business owners, or why they were targeted. South detectives are investigating.
