Suspect sought in Northeast Phila. burglaries

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - April 25, 2012

According to investigators, it was 6:15 p.m. on Monday when two men approached a home on the 9200 block of Masland Street. Video shows one of the suspects waiting at the front door until he is joined by a second man. Then, one of the men jumps a fence to the rear of the property while the other acts as a lookout in the front.

The man in the back then attempted to break into the property through the rear door. When he forced the door open, a security alarm sounded and both suspects fled without taking anything.

The same two men are believed to be responsible for several other burglaries in the area.

The first suspect is described as black man between 20 and 27 years of age, with a medium build, light complexion, and beard. He was wearing a dark knit hat, gray hooded sweatshirt with distinct white draw strings and a small light colored emblem on the chest, dark pants and black shoes.

The second suspect was a black man between 20 and 27 years of age, with a thin build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and tan work boots.

Police say a white Chevrolet work van was observed driving past the property on Masland Street several times just before the burglary attempt. Though the men were seen neither exiting or entering the van, it is believed that the vehicle is connected to the two suspects.

The van has two rear windows and doors and two side windows and doors on its right side. It also appears to have a logo on both front doors and as well as writing and markings on both sides.
