Giant head could be on the move

COVINA, Calif. (AP) - May 1, 2012

The seven-ton stone head now is lying in a heap of sand at a city maintenance yard in Southern California.

The head was a gift to the city of Covina, from its former sister city in Mexico.

After arriving in 1989, the head was placed in front of the Police Department.

But the head was moved last year, to make room for a memorial to fallen officers.

The Covina City Council is due to bring the issue to a head at its meeting today.

Suggestions for a new home for the head include a park and the city library.
