Injured Marine returns to Pa. to a hero's welcome

HARRISBURG, Pa. - May 3, 2012

Twenty-two-year-old Cpl. Brian Riddle of Susquehanna Township earned his second Purple Heart for injuries he suffered in a mortar attack on April 22. He sustained shrapnel wounds from head to toe and underwent several surgeries.

He received his first Purple Heart after being shot by a sniper in Afghanistan.

A motorcade of police, motorcyclists and firefighters from the Progress Fire Co., where Riddle serves as a volunteer, accompanied his limousine Wednesday afternoon into Susquehanna Township, where family and friends were waiting.

Riddle says he's thankful to know he's made others proud.

He will spend three weeks at home then return to Camp Pendleton in California to serve out his final year of active duty.
