NJ woman, 70, charged in assault-for-hire plot

PATERSON, N.J. - May 4, 2012

Authorities say Vivian Peltier of Wallington met with an undercover officer and instructed him to beat the victims for money. Authorities say the officer was told he would receive a percentage of the cash that he collected from the beatings.

Police arrested her on April 30 after they said she made a down payment to the officer. They released the details of the plot on Thursday.

Authorities say Peltier knew the intended targets. But officials have declined to say who they were.

Peltier is held on $50,000 bail, charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit robbery.
