Bensalem police seek info on hit-and-run

BENSALEM, Pa. - May 7, 2012

It was around 11:06 p.m. on Saturday, April 28th when police were called to the 2700 block of Street Road for a man found lying on the shoulder of the road.

That man has been identified as Kevin Hubbard, 45, from Philadelphia.

Investigators say Hubbard had multiple injuries that were consistent with being struck by or falling from a vehicle.

Police tell Action News that Hubbard was walking east along Street Road, just past Mechanicsville Road, when he was hit. Then, after the accident someone robbed him.

Police think the vehicle that struck him might have been a black pickup truck, and that the driver might have hit him intentionally.

Fred Harran of the Bensalem Police told Action News, "It's possible someone decided to play a game and they whacked him with their door. It looks like that may be how he got his injuries. That's certainly one possibility that we're looking at right now."

Police think the vehicle will have significant damage to the passenger's side door.

He was transported to Aria Health Torresdale Campus and remains listed in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

After recovering, Hubbard realized that $600 he had in his pocket when he left the bar, was missing.

Hubbard suffered severe injuries to his back and his knees and faces a long road to recovery.

Bensalem Police are asking anyone who may have seen Kevin Hubbard that evening or the vehicle involved to contact Detective Glenn Vandegrift at (215) 633-3638.
