LAUREL, Del. - May 9, 2012

35-year-old Chad E. Newsome of Trenton, New Jersey and 31-year-old Thomas M. Harrison of Los Angeles, California are facing felony marijuana possession charges, as well as conspiracy and paraphernalia charges.

Police say it was 10:53 p.m. Tuesday when a trooper observed a Chevrolet HHR fail to signal a lane change as it traveled southbound on US 13 and decided to conduct a traffic stop.

Chad Newsome was behind the wheel when the trooper approached the car – Harrison was in the passenger seat. While talking to the men the trooper became suspicious and asked to search the car.

The search moved to the trunk of the car where the trooper discovered a blue/black duffel bag containing two cellophane wrapped packages. The trooper then found an additional four separate packages. All six packages contained a total of seven pounds of marijuana.

Newsome and Harrison were arrested at the scene and are now being held on default of $27,000 bond.
