Trenton police SUV hit with gunfire

TRENTON, N.J. - May 15, 2012

Two Trenton police officers escaped injury as five bullets ripped into their vehicle on Stuyvesant Avenue late Monday evening.

Police were on patrol at 11:53 p.m. Monday when they heard gunshots.

As the officers traveled on Stuyvesant Avenue, Police Lt. Don Fillinger tells The Times of Trenton the officers reported hearing six shots in the immediate vicinity and they soon found out the gunman had been shooting at them.

Police called for backup.

Once the scene was clear, the officers discovered the vehicle was struck by gunfire.

No arrests have been made.

The State PBA is offering a reward of $20,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspects for Criminal Attempt Homicide.
