Free workouts in the city

RITTENHOUSE SQUARE - May 21, 2012

However, the "Insanity Boot Camp" workout and several others you can find in the city are actually free.

The Boot Camp is offered by Athleta, a women's fitness wear store on Rittenhouse Square.

They also offer free Zumba, Yoga, and Nia classes as well. Nia's a mix of yoga, martial arts and dance.

Store General Manager Beth Landgraf explains, "Nia is something that I never had even heard of before when we were contacted by the instructor. It's a sensory-based dance, free form and it combines a lot of yoga and martial arts and dance moves and it's done to a lot of different music and it's just very flowing and just feeling you know your spirit within and just moving as your body moves you really."

"And then, on the other side of the spectrum, we have Insanity and Boot Camp. Insanity is high-intensity, high -ndurance, plyometrics, a lot of jumping and moving and really getting your heart rate up and then boot camp as well. We do that out in Rittenhouse Square. It leaves from the store and really a lot of high-intensity, interval training, 45 seconds on, 15 seconds off, pushups, squats, lunges, all of that high intensity stuff."

You can also find free workout classes if you check out Lululemon Athletica's website. They have a running club and starting next month, they'll be offering free Thursday night "Urban Yoga" classes at the Comcast Plaza, with food and drinks afterwards at Table 31.
