Ocean City prepares for summer season

OCEAN CITY, N.J. - May 18, 2012

At Wonderland Pier on the boardwalk, technicians are climbing tall ladders to put lights on the Ferris Wheel, while construction crews are scrambling to complete a brand new fun house to spook the little ones.

"We have to lay track, we have to pain, we have to side," said Chuck Burnett, construction worker.

Wayne Seddon is designing and building all the skeletons and scary faces that put the haunt in haunted house.

"The backbone is a dowel, which I gave a little definition by carving it. These bones are PVC pipe which I heat up and melt," said Seddon.

There is another big treat in store for shore lovers this season. With the new 9th Street Bridge - beach goers will no longer have to sit in traffic the way they used to when the old bridge would open for boats.

That along with the falling prices of gasoline, are good news for businesses like Shoch's Sunoco, where they are waiting for the influx of tourists.

"It's great for us. I think we'll get more day-trippers coming with gas prices coming down. They just went down about four more cents this week so we're in good shape for Memorial Day Weekend," said John Pindynski.

With the warm weather headed our way, who can blame shore-goers if they want to get a jumpstart on their summer tans.
