Man faces DUI, other charges for deadly Montco crash

GILBERTSVILLE, Pa. - May 25, 2012

23-year-old Howard Christy II was arrested for the April 29 accident in Douglass Township.

Authorities that Christy was behind the wheel when his vehicle overturned and went into the Perkiomen Creek.

A local resident walking with two relatives discovered the car flipped over in the water. Christy was freed from the wreckage but passenger Etinye Usoro was still trapped inside.

Firefighters were able to get Usoro out of the car but he was pronounced dead - the cause of death was drowning.

Christy was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for hypothermia and other injuries. Hospital officials say his blood alcohol level of .12 percent.

Authorities say they also found a partially full bottle of alcohol floating in the water near the crash.

Christy was later arrested for Homicide by Vehicle, DUI, and other charges stemming from the accident.
