1 arrested, 1 sought in Chester shooting, chase

CHESTER, Pa. - May 29, 2012

The incident happened around 1:40 p.m. at 18th Street and Edgmont Avenue when police witnessed an alleged cocaine deal.

Chester police observed a 2010 red Ford F-150 driving at a high rate of speed.

Police attempted to stop the car, but the driver fled and led authorities on a pursuit across many city blocks.

According to authorities, the driver, identified as Basilio Clausell Jr., struck numerous vehicles as he sped through traffic lights, stop signs, onto sidewalks and into oncoming traffic.

Police say Clausell and his passenger, identified as Reginald Brown, led police through parks, parking lots and Widener University campus while throwing what appeared to be drugs and contraband from the stolen vehicle that displayed a North Carolina registration.

Police say the Clausell drove the vehicle head on towards an officer, striking him inside his unmarked police unit.

Shots were then fired.

The vehicle came to a stop after slamming into a vacant home in the 300 block of East 10th Street.

A foot pursuit ensued and Reginald Brown was taken into custody.

A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

A manhunt for Basilio Clausell Jr. continues for numerous charges.
