GLOUCESTER TWP., N.J. - May 29, 2012

48-year-old James DiMeo Jr. has been charged with assault, possession of a deadly weapon, terroristic threats and resisting arrests.

Police say the suspect assaulted a female friend with a hammer and threatened to stab her with a knife.

Police were called around 2:00 p.m. to a home in the La Cascata development off of Kelly Drivers Lane.

Once there, police discovered DiMeo barricaded inside of the home.

A SWAT team was called to the scene and got the man out of the house.

The woman suffered minor injuries and no officers were hurt.

Police say DiMeo may have been under the influence of drugs during the incident.
