Tuan Huynh of Lower Gwynedd was sentenced Tuesday in Montgomery County Court to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service in connection with the Feb. 22 incident.
Authorities said Huynh told the girl to pack a bag then left her near a mall 13 miles away after she received a bad grade in calculus.
Police said the girl was asking strangers for a place to stay. She had no cellphone and was carrying a backpack with a blanket and clothes.
Prosecutor Cara McMenamin says the quiet and serious girl, who aspires to be a classical pianist, feared she would never see her family again.
