Third victim comes forward in Pennypack Park assaults

WEST KENSINGTON - May 30, 2012

The attacks involved a white male with a fair complexion, about 25-30 years of age, about 5'9" to 5'10" and driving a white work truck with ladders on the side.

Action News has previously reported on those assaults that occurred on July 16, 2010 and August 3, 2011, in which the women accepted rides from the assailant at Torresdale and Disston, and then driven to the 8000 block of Cresco Avenue.

There, they were forced into a wooded area of Pennypack Park, where they were physically and sexually assaulted.

Now a third victim has come forward, saying she was also assaulted by the same male in a white contractor's truck with ladders and toolboxes on the side. That attack happened in August, 2010.

The victim tells police a few days later she saw the assailant again, but that time he was driving a family-type minivan.

"This time, this same male, who had called himself Rob or Bob, was now operating a newer model, dark blue minivan," said Philadelphia Police Captain John Darby. "She describes it as a higher-end, possibly Town-and-Country model minivan. It had an 'Eagles' sticker in the rear window. So what we have now is a better picture of this male."

The description this victim gave police is of a white male with close-cropped sandy brown hair, a close-cut mustache and goatee, left eyebrow and tongue piercings, driving a dark blue minivan with an eagle sticker on the rear window and a child seat in the back.

Police are able to paint a clearer profile of the assailant with the new information. They believe he is a working guy, possibly a contractor, a family man with body piercings who keeps his vehicles meticulously clean, and is familiar with the area.

"Looking at the total picture of this guy, not only the description, but the two vehicles that he was observed operating, helps us in asking the public to put that together," Captain Darby said.

Again, police say this is a man who seems very familiar with the area, and they are hoping a co-worker, a customer, neighbor or family member will be able to piece all of the information together and point them to a suspect.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251 or -3252.
