PHOTOS: Deep sinkhole opens in yard of historic Bucks home

The hole, which is connected to a deep cistern or well that appears to have been built many years ago, swallowed up two shrubs shortly after it was first discovered on Saturday, June 2, 2012 on the property of a home on Church Street. The home was built in 1833.

Engineers were expected to evaluate a deep sinkhole that has opened up in the yard of an historic home in Doylestown, Pa.

Homeowner Helen Aldredge told Action News that a neighbor first noticed the hole on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
