Residents allowed back after explosives scare in Del.

GLASGOW, Del. - June 5, 2012

Approximately 30 residents were evacuated from their homes for close to 7 hours.

Just before 11:00 p.m., residents were allowed back in to The Commons at Stone Throw development along the 300 block of Cobble Creek Curve after the all clear was given by officials.

The incident began when police were called around 4:00 p.m. to check on a man on probation.

During that check, investigators say possible pipe bombs and other materials suspected of being explosives were discovered.

Fire, medics and ordinance disposal crews arrived at the scene and began running a series of test to determine if the matter was in fact hazardous.

The bomb squad evacuated about 30 residents as the investigation progressed.

However, after investigating, authorities declared there were no explosives and residents were allowed back into their homes.

Police have not yet identified the materials in question.
