The shooting happened around 2:05 a.m. inside a bar near the intersection of Adams Avenue and Tabor Road in the Crescentville section of the city.
Police say a 26-year-old off-duty police officer was inside the bar and was assisting a security guard who was being assaulted by two males.
The security guard went to pull his gun when it discharged, shooting the off-duty police officer in the foot.
As the officer was being put in a vehicle to be taken to the hospital, the two assailants went to their car, pulled out guns and started shooting at the bar.
A stray bullet hit a 23-year-old woman in the thigh. She was later admitted to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.
The off-duty officer is in stable condition at Temple University Hospital. His identity has not been released.
The two gunmen fled the scene and remain at large.
