Police: Homeless man struck by car in Camden

CAMDEN - June 10, 2012

It happened around 12:45 Sunday morning near Cooper and North Front streets.

The vehicle was heading down Cooper Street when it struck a light pole then the victim. The car also struck a monument on Rutgers University's Camden campus.

Police believe the victim was collecting cans in a shopping cart when he was hit. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital in an unknown condition.

The driver of the vehicle was apprehended at the scene. An investigation continues.
