Philly school board names superintendent finalist

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - June 22, 2012

The School Reform Commission said Friday that Pedro Martinez is a finalist for the job. He's currently deputy superintendent of the Clark County School District in Nevada.

The district says members of the public will be able to meet him and ask questions during a forum on Monday. A second finalist will be announced on Tuesday.

Martinez also previously served as chief financial officer for the Chicago public schools under now-U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan.
