It happened at 11:45 a.m. Monday on southbound Route 7 at Stanton-Ogletown Road in Christiana.
The collision left the driver of one the cars trapped.
It took rescue crews about 30 minutes to free that man, who was taken to a waiting ambulance.
The passenger van was carrying 5 special needs children from the St. Georges Group home.
A total of six people were taken to Christiana Hospital. Police say none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Southbound Route 7 was closed as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
