Driver seriously hurt after car slams through wall

WILMINGTON - July 6, 2012

It was around 9:00 a.m. when rescuers were called to a storage building at a car dealership at 31st and Market Streets.

There, they found a car through the wall and the driver still trapped inside.

After about 20 minutes of rescue operations, the driver was finally freed and rushed to the hospital.

The New Castle County Collapse Team and Department of Licenses and Inspections were also dispatched to the scene.

Police say the driver, a man in his 30s, is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say it appears the man accidentally stepped on the gas and he will be cited for inattentive driving.
