1 dead, 4 injured in 2-car crash in Sewell, N.J.

SEWELL, N.J. - July 7, 2012

Police were called to the intersection of Hurffville Cross Keys and Chapel Heights Roads just after 1:00pm Saturday afternoon where they found an overturned vehicle.

Police say a Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with a GMC Terrain leaving several passengers trapped in one of the vehicles.

One passenger in the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other passengers in the GMC were also injured; two were flown to Cooper Hospital, another passenger in the GMC and the driver of the Jeep was transported to Kennedy Hospital in Washington Township.

Police are not releasing the names of the passengers, but confirmed that all of the passengers in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. There is no word on their conditions.

The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash.

Investigators believe one of the cars ran a red light. So far, no charges have been filed.
