Police say a car hit a gas monitoring pipe that caused an underground leak around 11:00 p.m. on South Wycombe Avenue.
The crash also knocked down power lines which kept crews from the gas company and PECO working through the night making repairs.
The accident was next door to a senior care facility but there are no reports of evacuations.
Traffic was blocked off around a four block radius as a precaution until the scene was cleared and the pipe was repaired just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
There is no word on what led to the crash or if there were any injuries.
