2 to be tried for murder in Del. soccer shootings

WILMINGTON, Del. - July 17, 2012

A Court of Common Pleas judge ruled after a preliminary hearing Tuesday that there was sufficient evidence to believe that 35-year-old Otis Phillips of New Castle and 22-year-old Jeffrey Phillips of Wilmington were responsible for the July 8 shootings at a Wilmington park.

A police detective testified that witnesses saw the two men approach tournament organizer Herman Curry, who was shot in the chest.

In the ensuing gunfire, which included one or more spectators shooting at the alleged gunmen, 16-year-old Alexander Kamara was shot in the head.

Also killed was 43-year-old Sheldon Olge, who police believe was driving the car in which the gunmen tried to flee.
