Police bust chop shop operation in Bridesburg

BRIDESBURG - July 18, 2012

A resident tipped off police to the small operation in a wooded area near the 3000 block of Orthodox Street in Bridesburg around 8:00 p.m.

Officers say they found three men stripping down two GMC and Ford trucks, which were recently reported stolen.

Two of the three suspects were quickly apprehended.

Officials say the third took off and hid under a bus in a lot along the Delaware River.

He was tracked down with the help of a K9. Police say the suspect gave up when he heard the dog barking.

Authorities are looking into the possibility this chop shop was part of a larger operation.
