Fire forces residents from apartment building

An apartment fire in the Wynnefield Heights section of Philadelphia has forced several residents from their homes early Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to the 3900 block of Conshohocken Avenue just before midnight.

Upon arrival, heavy smoke was seen from the 3-story building and one apartment had been damaged.

Residents from that apartment an adjoining apartment had to be evacuated.

The fire was placed under control at 12:19 a.m. and there were no reports of any injures.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist the four residents who were displaced.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
