Fire crews battle house fire in Downingtown

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. - August 7, 2012

The fire is out at the scene of a house fire in Downingtown, but police have declared a hazmat situation because of chemicals found at the home.

Chopper 6 HD was over the smoky scene on the 1300 block of Westminster Drive.

The garage caught fire around 6:30pm, and took firefighters an hour and a half to get the blaze under control.

But authorities say there are still hazardous chemicals in the house. It is not clear if they were involved in starting the fire.

Five firefighters are being treated at area hospitals, with non-life threatening injuries.
