Building catches fire on South Street

A building with a store and apartments was damaged in a fire on Monday afternoon in South Philadelphia.

The fire was reported around 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of South Street and Schell Street.

When firefighters arrived they found a fire in the rear of a three-story building, which has a store downstairs and apartments upstairs.

There was a heavy fire burning on the second floor, which was quickly brought under control.

No injuries have been reported.

There was no immediate word on how this fire started.
