The blaze broke out around 8:30 p.m. along the 2800 block of West 10th Street.
Arriving firefighters reported fire coming from the two-story semi-detached brick home.
A second alarm was struck shortly after arrival and, within a half hour, the fire was knocked down and declared under control.
The family of four was not home at the time of the fire.
One firefighter suffered a minor leg injury.
He was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center for treatment.
There is no word on a cause for the fire.
The Red Cross is providing assistance for the displaced family.
