Parenting Magazine put Wilmington at the top of its list for the most dangerous cities.
The magazine says the city has the highest rate of violent crimes per 100,000 people.
Just last year, the same magazine ranked Wilmington as one of the best cities.
Deputy Chief John Rago says city officials have contacted the magazine asking for details of the report.
They think the magazine developed the ranking based on zip codes that are not within the city limits.
