Body found in search for teen swept away in flood

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - August 24, 2012

William Mootz went missing in the Pittman Wash during a rainstorm Wednesday.

A volunteer searcher found a body Friday morning. Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul says the dead body is "highly likely" that of the missing teen but the coroner's office would help make the final determination of the victim's identity.

The body was found in a muddy, marshy area about three-quarters of a mile downstream of a concrete-lined section of the wash where Mootz disappeared.

Dozens of police and volunteers were looking for Mootz. Searchers using dogs specially trained to find disaster victims joined the effort Friday.
