The Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson and Prostate Health International are using the funds raised from the race to offer free prostate health and cancer screenings, starting tomorrow, September 19th.
The screenings include a blood test for PSA (prostate specific antigen), testosterone and cholesterol, as well as a digital rectal exam.
Prostate cancer is the second biggest cancer killer among men.
Doctors recommend screening for all men 35 and older, because prostate cancer usually shows no symptoms in its early stages.
Registration is required. You can register by calling 1-800-JEFF-NOW.
The screening times are:
*Wednesday, Sept. 19 (9:00A-3:00P)
Bodine Center for Cancer Treatment
111 S. 11th St (11th & Sansom)
Philadelphia, PA
*Tuesday, Sept. 25 (9:00A - 3:00P)

Radiation Oncology Pavilion

"P" shaped prostate cancer awareness pretzels from the Philly Pretzel Factory will be avalable at the event.
Wawa Incorporated is also a co-sponsor for the screenings.
